PR View:

Good effort taken by the MPKj to give exposure to its workers about the importance of integrity in public service. Although this program is only for employees, but an effort to display this program on the website is very appreciate. This is because the public who surf the MPKj website  will automatically read the announcement and felt the MPKj always strive to provide a good service to them.

Clean up vacant houses, MPKj urged

THE Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has been urged to clean up the unsightly compound of a few vacant houses in Taman Suria Jaya, Cheras.
Serdang MCA Public and Services Complaints Bureau chairman Allan Liew said such units posed safety and health risks to the residents nearby.
He said burglars could sneak into neighbouring houses through the roof of the vacant lots.
“The MPKj should search the records and contact the house owners. If the units are not sold, the council should then take the responsibility to maintain the place,” he said.
Taman Suria Jaya Muslim Residents Association chairman Mohd Noordin Mohd Idrus said one of the houses in Jalan Bunga Mawar 9 had always been vacant since he moved in 18 years ago.
The house owner owed MPKj about RM1,900 of assessment.
“We do not know who owns the house. The residents also sealed the entrance of the house with wooden planks to prevent drug addicts from entering the premises,” Mohd Noordin said.
He said there were three or four dengue cases in the residential area last year and the MPKj was notified of the vacant lots.
Serdang MCA deputy chairman Datuk Hoh Hee Lee said the councils had the right to clean up the units and then bill the cost to the house owners.
MPKj councillor Steven Chan said the council was tracing the owners of the vacant units.
“If they do not clean up and settle the compound, the council will clear the mess on their behalf and charge them,” he said.
PR VIEW:
I'm failed to traced the latest news regards the above issue. Whether it being action taken or not, we don't know. Corporate Planning & Public Relations Unit must give a feedback in hope the residents and public will update with the current action.
It seem like a trend when people lodge a report to the newspaper, the answer will always like 'so-so''... As the issue above, the answer from the MPKj Councillor, Mr.Steven Chan looks very stereotype...
The question is, when the action will be taken?... We cannot always just give a feedback that never have the end of the solution. This is how the image and reputation of the council will be tarnish slowly...
Believe me, the residents will call the media again and say ..''We has lodge a complaint to MPKJ in February, and the Councillor also coming with the media...but no action taken until now..''

  • Designing people-friendly programs
  • Monitoring the activities of residents' associations in their respective zones.
  • Coordinate a balanced form of assistance to residents associations.
  • In line with Local Agenda 21 towards sustainable development.
PR View:

It's a good effort for the council to have their own MPP programs. Residents needs a support by Council Members to lead them for the activities. Council cannot by their own to handle everything, so the present of council member that lead their territory can help the council.

Residents need to be inform and highlights about the benefit of the MPP. This is one of the channel for them to shout their problem. Council need to be close with the public because as a pax tayer, public deserve to get the best from the council.

Corporate Planning & Public Relations Unit need to be aggressive to promote the MPP. It's bring a lot of benefit to council if the MPP program is active. I think the council burden can be reduce seem the members is running their duty.
